Window Measuring Guide

Measurement Tips

  • Do not make any deductions from your measurements.
  • For inside mount, we will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
  • For outside mount, you may need extension brackets or spacer blocks to account for window frame depth.
  • Measure each window individually—even if they appear identical.
  • Record all measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch for accuracy.
  • Always use a steel tape measure, as fabric tape measures can stretch and cause errors.

Measuring for Inside Mount

✅ Measure the Depth

Please accurately measure the available depth space on the inside of the top of the window frame, which is a key indicator to ensure the safe installation of the product. Different styles of sunshade products have specific requirements for installation depth, and this data will also determine whether a perfect flush installation effect can be achieved.

✅ Measure the Width

To obtain accurate data, it is recommended to measure the actual width at the upper, middle, and lower positions of the window frame. Please note: All measurement values should be rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch to effectively avoid any slight deformations or irregularities in the window frame.

✅ Measure the Height

Vertical measurements need to be taken at three positions on the left, middle, and right sides of the window frame. To ensure product coverage, the final order height should be based on the maximum value of these three measurements (also following the rounding principle of 1/8 inch). This measurement method can perfectly adapt to the actual conditions of various windows.

Tips: Inside Mount

  • Check Window Depth: Measure to ensure your window has sufficient depth for an inside mount.
  • Alternative Solutions: If depth is insufficient, consider an outside mount or other compatible products.
  • Sturdy Frame Required: Verify that your window frame or casing is solid enough to support drilling and installation.

Measuring for Outside Mount

✅ Check Mounting Clearance

Measure the height above the window where the headrail will sit. Ensure there’s sufficient space for both the brackets and headrail to install securely.

✅ Measure the Width

Measure the full width of the window (including the frame). For better light control, extend the blinds 2-4 inches wider (1-2 inches per side) than the window opening. Use this adjusted width when ordering.

✅ Measure the Height

Measure the full height of the window (including the frame). For optimal appearance and function, mount the shade 10-12 inches above the window frame to accommodate the stack height and maximize uncovered glass.

Tips: Outside Mount

  • Add Extra Width: Extend the blinds beyond the window trim for full coverage, or leave 4-6 inches extra (2-3 inches per side) if there's no trim. This improves light blockage and privacy.
  • Enhance Visual Appeal: Installing blinds outside the frame not only fits the brackets but also creates the illusion of a larger window, boosting the room's look.
  • Verify Clearance: Make sure there’s a flat space of at least 2-3 inches above the window for secure bracket installation.
